SNAP, CRACKLE, POP


The Wolves saw their season-high eight-game home winning streak come to end on Saturday with a 3-2 shootout loss to Hamilton; Chicago has posted a 17-6-0-2 mark in 25 home matchups this year and share first in the Western Conference and second overall in the AHL with a .720 home winning percentage.

WOLVES HEADLINES

--- Peter Mannino: Named the Reebok/AHL Goaltender of the Month after posting a 6-1-0 record with a 1.28 goals-against average and .958 save percentage in seven games in January; Earned his first shutout of the season and second of his professional career with 32 saves on Jan. 29 ... Allowed two or fewer goals in 15 of his 18 appearances this season and ranks first in the AHL with a 1.76 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage in 18 outings this season (13-3-0) ... Has won 10 of his last 11 starts, holding opponents to two or fewer goals in 10 of those matchups; Has allowed three goals on 124 shots in his last four tilts

--- Tim Stapleton: Recorded three assists and four points in three games this week to extend his current point streak to 10 games, which is a team season-high and is tied for the third longest point streak in the AHL this season; he has notched 18 points (7G, 11A) during that span ... Ranks second on the Wolves and fifth in the AHL with 23 goals and ranks third on the team and 14th in the league with 43 points in 48 games this season ... He also leads the Wolves with six game-winning goals

--- Brett Sterling: Bagged three goals and four points in three games this week, which includes his third two-goal outing on Jan. 27 ... Paces the Wolves and shares second in the AHL with 26 goals and ranks second on the team and shares 10th in the league with 45 points in 42 games this year ... Recorded at least one point in 30 of his 42 outings this season, and has posted multiple points 11 times ... Notched nine goals and 16 points in 12 outings during the month of January

--- Joey Crabb: Tallied three goals in three games this week ... Ranks third on the team with 16 goals and shares fifth with 27 points in 47 outings this season ... He has pocketed eight goals in his last 11 games, after scoring eight goals in the previous 36 outings of the year ... Registered eight goals, 13 points and a + 11 plus/minus rating in 14 contests during the month of January

WOLF TRACKS

--- Chicago posted an .821 winning percentage during the month of January (11-2-0-1) to climb into fourth place of the West Division with 59 points through 48 games (28-17-0-3); the Wolves trail first-place Texas by four points and sit two points behind second-place Rockford with four games in hand.

--- Wolves captain Jason Krog is two points shy of becoming the 79th player in the history of the AHL to record 500 points; the 34-year-old forward paces the Wolves and ranks second in the AHL with 41 assists and leads the team and shares fourth in the league with 50 points in 46 games this year.

--- The Wolves have potted six power-play goals in their last six contests (six of 23); Chicago ranks seventh in the AHL with a 19.5 efficiency rating on the power-play (38 of 195).

--- Chicago thwarted all three of Grand Rapids' power-play chances on Friday, marking the 23rd time overall the team has been perfect on the penalty kill; the Wolves rank eighth in the league with an 85.8 efficiency rating on the penalty kill (169 of 197).

--- Goaltender Kari Lehtonen's 25-save performance on Jan. 27 earned him his first AHL victory since Nov. 29, 2007; the 26-year-old netminder, who was assigned by the Atlanta Thrashers for a conditioning stint on Jan. 22, has collected a 1-1-1 mark with a 2.96 goals-against average and .900 save percentage in three outings.

MAC ATTACK

--- Wolves defenseman Steve McCarthy will visit the Highland Park Public Library, 494 Laurel Ave., on Tue., Feb. 2, at 7 p.m., as part of the team's "Read to Succeed" program, presented by Vista Health System and Pace. Members of the squad will make more than 30 library visits throughout the Chicago area this season for the program, which has reached more than 500,000 children since its inception in 1995.

--- The Wolves saw their eight-game home winning streak snapped with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Western-Conference leading Hamilton Bulldogs before a season-high crowd of 15,532 at the Allstate Arena
--- Left wing Brett Sterling and defenseman Nathan Oystrick scored in regulation while Anthony Stewart tallied in the shootout
--- Goaltender Kari Lehtonen turned aside 24 of 26 shots in regulation and overtime, and stopped three of five attempts in the shootout.

--- Goaltender Peter Mannino turned away all 32 shots he faced as the Wolves blanked the Grand Rapids Griffins, 3-0, at Van Andel Arena
--- Right wings Joey Crabb (2G) and Spencer Machacek scored

--- The Wolves scored five goals for the second straight game on the way to a 5-2 rout of the Houston Aeros at the Allstate Arena
